Protecting the Beaches for Over 80 Years
Myrtle Beach Surf Rescue (formerly John’s Beach Service) has been serving and protecting Myrtle Beach, South Carolina since the early 70’s. Since then, the reputation of the team has strengthened and the number of lifeguards has grown to over 60 dedicated members. In 2021, Myrtle Beach Surf Rescue was created to cover all lifeguard operations, while John’s Beach Service still employs all beach attendants. We are centrally located and family-run with a strong plan for the future.
“I take pride in this operation and I’m not going to put anyone out there that I don’t feel is up to the task of saving lives.”
– Nick Jackson of Myrtle Beach Surf Rescue (formerly John’s Beach Service) quoted by WBTW

“The ocean was made SO much nicer by not having to lug the chairs & umbrella to the beach & back. Just a nice walk & it’s all set up for you. It may cost a bit more than buying your own but not much and when you’re flying home you can’t take it with you anyway.😉”

Google Review“The lifeguards here at Myrtle Beach are fantastic. They are very attentive to the swimming conditions and actively patrol the beach. They are friendly and work hard setting up the umbrellas and chairs each day. Cudos to your lifeguards.”

Facebook Review“Mikhail is by far the best lifeguard I’ve ever had in the 10 years we’ve been coming here. He is very fast and efficient. He always puts safety first and makes sure all his customers are taken care of. He always smiles and accommodates his customers.”

Google Review“…Vance went above and beyond every single day. He was so friendly, alert and on top of his game. Today there was a young boy who started to drown Vance didn’t hesitate and ran right in to save him. It was awesome to see someone care about his job and take pride in what he does!! I would give Vance and John’s Beach Service 10 stars if I could!”

Facebook ReviewThe 2 lifeguards on duty were at 1pm on August 17th in front of Meridian Plaza need an award for heroism ! Myself n my 2 children were swimming in the Ocean when they noticed us struggling… My girls were asking for my help and I myself was helpless until they showed up! They are awesome!”

Google Review“On Thursday, July 19th, Marek from Poland saved my life. I had been pulled under by a rip current in Myrtle Beach and had drowned. Due to Marek’s quick reaction and life saving skills, I only spent one day in ICU. He pulled me out from being face down in the ocean according to witnesses and Marek. There are not enough words of gratitude I or my family can express for his professionalism. It was humbling to meet the young man who saved my life.”
